BIO
Kevin Sanders was born and raised in Nashville, Tennessee and now calls western North Carolina home. He started piano at the age of eight and after ten years of classical training he started doing solo wedding gigs and private parties. Soon, he joined and/or formed several dance and cover bands that gigged in Tennessee and the surrounding area.
Always a fan of jazz standards, he began formal jazz training at the Nashville Jazz Workshop. Learning from jazz greats like Lori Mechem, Pat Coil, Beegie Adair, Jeff Coffin, and Roland Barber helped shape and hone his skills. This led to gig opportunities throughout the southeast, at festivals, concerts, showcases, and other venues, along with studio work and commercial CD projects.
Some of Kevin's musical influences include Herbie Hancock, Gene Harris, Lori Mechem, Bruce Hornsby, Jeff Lorber, and Stevie Wonder.
Performance venues include numerous music and jazz festivals in Tennessee and surrounding states, Franklin (TN) Theatre, Opryland Hotel, Hard Rock Cafe (Nashville), Exit-In (Nashville), TN and NC wineries and breweries, White Horse Black Mountain (NC), Isis Music Hall (Asheville), DFR Room (Brevard), and many others.
Comfortable with jazz, big band, pop, R&B, Latin, and blues, Kevin is at home with a wide variety of musical genres and styles. He even gets the Bach and Chopin books back out occasionally.
